Power is at the heart of the Z06. Performance is all it knows. And it delivers it like a master. The hand-built 7.0 litre all-aluminium small block V8 generates a heart-pounding 505PS, making it the most powerful Corvette engine ever produced. Nothing has been allowed to hold the Z06 back.
Its body structure and chassis are distinctly different from the Coupe and Convertible, while its aluminium structure makes it much lighter. All without a single compromise in strength, torsional rigidity or aerodynamic efficiency.
The LS7 engine is based on the same small block as the C6.R. The figures speak for themselves: 505PS and 637 Nm of torque, delivering a top speed of 198mph and a 0-62mph time of 3.9 seconds.
The competition tested features of this hand-built engine include titanium valves and connecting rods, steel cylinder liners, sodium filled exhaust valves and a special dry sump oil system to ensure optimum lubrication and cooling.
A high performance engine requires a transmission able to smoothly transfer all that power.
The 6-speed manual transmission created for the Z06 has gear ratios calibrated to reduce stress and deliver the traction for high acceleration.
Both the transmission and battery are rear-mounted, helping the Z06 achieve a near 50/50 weight balance.
The dry sump oiling system of the Z06 is another feature proven in the heat of competitive racing.
When cornering at high speed, the system keeps vital engine parts lubricated by continuing to work regardless of g-force.
So there’s no loss of power or performance, even when taking a steep curve or banking.
The Z06 has an innovative all-aluminium structure and the highest volume of carbon fiber of any production car.
Carbon fiber reduces the weight of the front fenders, front wheelhouses and floor panels, while aluminium lightens the chassis, engine block and transmission case.
These weight-saving features, along with its aerodynamics, give the Z06 outstanding balance and a superb power-to-weight ratio.
Extensive use of carbon fibre and an all-aluminium frame give the Z06 a greater weight to performance ratio.
The Z06 transfers Corvette racing technology to the road with deck-plate honed cylinders.
Four large stainless steel exhaust pipes, a cold air scoop on the hood and a large air extractor behind the wheel give the Z06 a distinct profile.
Cast-spun aluminium wheels and tyres featuring run-flat technology tyres elevate handling and safety to a new level.
Stay focused on the road with a display that projects the speedometer, tachometer, g-force meter and navigation data onto the windscreen.
Intuitive placement of key controls and white LED back-lit gauges ensure the Z06 driver is always comfortable and in command.
The Z06 delivers incredible stopping power via monobloc calipers with six pistons, a system rarely seen in production cars.
Rich leather seats with fixed side bolsters increase comfort and luxury while more securely holding the driver through corners.
